Nurses have my utmost respect

Friday 12th of May is International Nurses Day and we at Mind. Body. Salt. want to show some love for the amazing people who perform their roles 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Nurses sit in a very special place in my heart, and that of my families heart. I respect many things in the world however nothing anymore than the respect I have for nurses and the role they play in all of our community. We have all been in the care of a nurse at some stage and it is almost guaranteed that we will again in the future. As someone who has spent months at a time on numerous different occasions battling serious illness in hospitals, my respect of nurses developed seeing them in action day after day and has continued to increase and grow. I have built relationships with nurses who cared for me, I have leaned on them when I was very scared of what I was facing, they were tough on me when I needed a kick in the ass, I've laughed with them and I cried with them. They helped me in periods that I needed real help and I am indebted to them for that. When I think of my times in hospitals and the battles I faced my first thoughts are the amazing nurses and how they supported me not the pain or the fear. Hospitals can be a very lonely place, but the heartbeat of the hospital is the nurses and the many personalities that they come in. Team work shines through on all floors with professionalism and care easily viable as the primary focus of this massive team working across however many floors the hospitals have.

When I visit hospitals I continue to see the young nurses coming through and they share that invisible X-Factor of a passion for caring for people, ill people, the very difficult to assist and in some cases the heart wrenching terminally ill. They are amazing people and I continue to be in awe of their caring abilities and teamwork.

Thank-you to the massively under-thanked, thank-you for what you have done for me, for my family and our community.

As a very small sign of appreciation, any nurse who shows her employment badge at MBS will receive 50% off any RELAX & BREATHE PACKAGE (60min float + 45 min salt therapy session) between Friday 12th May and Sunday 14th May.
